Our Winter Wildlands

Thursday, December 4th, 2008

While there isn’t any lasting snow on the ground  in our beautiful ”City by the Lake” yet, our surrounding mountains have had a couple dustings of that crispy, white powder that we are so famous for.  With the holiday season upon us, touring Lake Coeur d’Alene by helicopter or seaplane is the most magnificent way to observe our area decked out in its holiday best.  With the luxurious lake homes lit up with thousands of lights and displays, they are clearly visible from the warm comfort of your aircraft.   Beautiful mountain lakes are a vivid blue as you glide over them and spotting wildlife below is easier than ever against the white backdrop.  The deer, elk and moose are herded together in the mountain meadows looking for food. The bald eagle population is growing daily at Wolf Lodge Bay, reaching it’s peak right at Christmas time.  This is a perfect photographic opportunity from the air and our pilots love showing you our winter wonderland.  Call us at TMI Tours for up to date information on vacation rentals and local sightseeing by air.

Attention Extreme Skiers and Snowboarders!

Tuesday, November 4th, 2008

For those strong intermediate through expert skiers, telemarkers, and snowboarders who are 16 or older seeking a little more adventure — how about a private snowcat trip for you and your family to untouched mountain peaks? You can experience a full day of private, guided skiing and snowboarding.

Imagine having access to untouched open bowls, hidden glades, beautiful trees and powder fields in a beautiful mountain range that averages 350 annual inches of snow. If you wish, you may turn it into a two day trip and stay overnight in a cozy back country yurt. Instead of traveling back down the mountain at the end of the day, you can ski right up to your secluded, wood heated yurt. Walk in to the smells of appetizers, drinks, and dinner as it is being prepared by your own private chef! In the morning, you are awakened to the smells of coffee and breakfast being prepared.

Then, it’s off for another day filled with fresh powder, unrivaled terrain and stunning views. This is a trip your family will remember forever (and they’ll love you for it too).

Please contact Rhonda Sand or Linda Bruno at TMI Travel to arrange your backcountry adventure today! Call us at 1-800-975-7775 or email us right away to reserve the dates you want!
